Swift recorded 1989 at studios across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Sweden with an ensemble including Martin, Shellback, Jack Antonoff, Ryan Tedder, Nathan Chapman, and Imogen Heap. She titled 1989 after her birth year to signify a symbolic artistic rebirth and enlisted Max Martin, who produced Red 's electronic-influenced pop tracks, as co-executive producer. Inspired by 1980s synth-pop, Swift conceived 1989 to recalibrate her artistry to pop after critics disputed her status as a country musician when she released her fourth studio album, the cross-genre Red (2012), to country radio. This is a masterpiece! A great, groovy record which can be enjoyed by a very wide and diverse audience.1989 is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, released on October 27, 2014, by Big Machine Records. All I can say is Taylor Swift can write lyrics, play instruments and sing. 'Bad Blood' is reputedly referring to a fall-out with Katy Perry. And it's about time this wonderful young woman was given the credit she deserves - and everybody deserves to enjoy this amazing artist! I'm really excited by how this has taken off, though. To be fair, I would say the same about all of Taylor's albums. 'Style' and 'All You Had To Do Was Stay' are probably my favourite tracks, but I would go as far as saying there is not a single bad track on this album. Everything she does feels honest and real and it has loveliness generally absent from music today. Taylor is so talented - especially as a songwriter, but also as a musician and as a singer. But I have to say, after a few spins I absolutely LOVE this record! Initially, I was slightly concerned that there was none of the country-based sound of the other albums (even 'Red' had songs in which the country origins/influence could be heard). I own every single on of her albums (from self titled first album, through 'Fearless', 'Speak Now', 'Red' and now '1989'). This is a new and interesting twist by Taylor Swift.
